Software Architecture Implementation and Realization. Sair Inc. was founded way back in 1992 as a software development company which began building it's Linux certification program in 1999.

during the dot com boom as companies were scooping each other up, Sair was acquired by Wave Technologies and subsequently by Thomson Learning which is currently administering the program.

The certification is focused on four major areas, linux installation; network connectivity; system administration; and security, ethics, and privacy. Each of the four areas contains six categories: theory of operation, base system, shells and commands, utilities, system services, and troubleshooting. Exams, which cost $99 each are multiple choice and have 50 questions requiring a minimum score of 74% to pass.
