Welcome to the HTML tag reference library. Please click on the name of a valid HTML 4.01 tag below to view the proper usage. Each tag has information about what it is used for, a list of attributes, and information regarding the end tag requirements.

We have noted those tags which have been deprecated in most instance. When a tag becomes deprecated it means the that future versions of HTML or XHTML or its replacement may not support that tag. It's a good idea to avoid using deprecated tags whenever possible to ensure that your webpage will show up properly in a viewer's browser.

The tag library is best used as a reference while making a webpage, if you do not understand the basics of using HTML you might want to check out our HTML courseware, if you are familiar with it feel free to test out your skills with one of our free exams.
