Entering data in Excel using AutoComplete

 

When entering text in a column, if you have entered the value before, Excel tries to be helpful and will attempt to complete the entry for you.  You can also select the entry from a drop-down list.

  • Right click on the cell where you want to enter information and choose the Pick From Drop-down List option

Excel displays a drop-down list with the other items you have entered in the column, thereby allowing you to select an entry

or quicker still

  • In the cell, hold down the Alt key and press the down arrow to get a list of previously entered items
